OUR CREED, MANHAJ and DA'WAH
We follow and try our best to implement the beliefs and actions of te Salif -us-Salih, (the Salaf)
What or Who is Salaf? The manhaj (methodology) of the Salaf is to adhere to the Qur’aan and the authentic Sunnah as understood by the Salaf as-Saalih. The word Salaf is a shortened version of the word ‘Salaf as-Saalih’, which means the ‘Righteous Predecessors’.It refers specifically to the first three generations of Islaam in which the Prophet Muhammad (Sallalaahu Alaihi wa Sallam) described as being the best generations of Muslims. The first, the Prophet (Sallalaahu Alaihi wa Sallam) and his Sahaabah (companions). The second, the Taabi’een (the followers of the companions). Thethird, the Tabaa’at-Taabi’een (the followers of the followers of the companions).Generally, this term refers to all those pious predecessors who followed the way of the Salaf and who have preceded us in time. This is the true manhaj of Ahl as-Sunnah wa al-Jamaa’ah.
The Prophet said, “O Mu’adh! Do you know what Allah’s Right upon His slaves is?” I said, “Allah and His Apostle know best.”
The Prophet said, “To worship Him (Allah) Alone and to join none in worship with Him (Allah). Do you know what their right upon Him is?” I replied, “Allah and His Apostle know best.” The Prophet said, “Not to punish them (if they do so).” (Sahih Bukhari)
at-Tawheed
Linguistically, Tawheed is the noun derived from the Arabic root verb: يُوَحِّدُ / وَحَّدَ (wahhada / yuwahhidu) which means to make something one. This is not accomplished except by a negation and affirmation, both together – negating this characteristic from anything other than the thing which is being singled out, and affirming it to that thing. For example, we say that mankind will not fulfill the concept of Tawheed unless and until they testify that nothing deserves any form of worship except Allaah. By this, we negate any right of worship to anyone or anything other than Allaah (), and we affirm it to Allaah alone.
Many scholars of Islaam use the word tawheed for all matters that a person must believe in. This is because the most important of these matters is the basic tawheed that is contained in the phrase, "There is none worthy of worship except Alah". Tawheed, according to them, may be divided into two categories: tawheed of cognition and affirmation and tawheed of purpose and deeds. Tawheed of cognition and affirmation is the tawheed of the Oneness of the Creator and the tawheed of His Names and Attributes [i.e. He is Unique in His being the only Creator and the only One with His names and attributes]. Tawheed of purpose and deeds s tawheed of lordship or that none should be worshipped except Alah [i.e., He is the only One worthy of worship].
Jundub Ibn Abdullaah al-Bajaly said, "We learned Iman (faith) and then we learned the Qur'an and it increased our Iman". Abdullaah ibn Umar said, "We lived during an instant of time in which one of us would receive faith first before receiving the Qur'an and when the surahs were revealed we would learn what they permitted and what they prohibited and what they forbade and what they ordered and what should be the stance towards them. But I have seen many men from whom one is given the Qur'an before Iman and he reads it from the opening of the Book to its closing and he does not know what it orders and what it forbids and what should be his stance towards it. He is like someone who is just throwing out dates [i.e., he does not get any benefit from his recital]"
Aqeedah , Its Meaning and Importance
al-Aqeedah linguistically is derived from the term aqada. In Arabic, one states, "Aqada the rope" when the rope is tied firmly. And, "Aqada the sale" or "He settled the sale" when the person ratifies and contracts a sale or agreement. And Alah says in the Qur'an, "And as for those whom your right hands have made a covenant (Ar.,aqadat)" [al-Nisa 33]. And Alah also says, "But He will take you to task for the oaths which you swear in earnest (Ar., aqadtum)" [al-Maida, 89] which means asserted and adhered to, as proven in the verse, "And break not oaths after the assertion of them" [an-Nahl, 91]. If one says, "Aqadtu such and such", it means his heart is firm upon such and such. Therefore, al-aqidah or al-itiqad according to the scholars of Islam is: The firm creed that one's heart is fixed upon without any wavering or doubt. It excludes any supposition, doubt or suspicion
Da'wah An Obligation
Dawah Of the Salaf of whom we follow
Ad-dawah tus Salafiyyah
Da’wah to Allâh rests upon firm pillars and is established upon foundations which are absolutely essential. If any of these are missing, the da’wah will not be correct, nor will it produce the desired results – no matter how much effort is expended, nor how much time is wasted. And this is the reality which we witness with regards to many of the present-day calls, which are not supported by those pillars, nor built upon those firm foundations.
1. Dawah is an obligation for every Muslim according to his/her ability and knowledge. Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, said: “Invite to the Way of your Lord (Islam) with wisdom and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better”. [16:125]. Allah’s order “invite” as stated in this verse is presented in a general form indicating that all Muslim, individual and collectively, are included in this obligation. To this end the prophet ,sallallahu alayhe wa sallam, has said: “Convey from me even one verse”. (Bukhari)
2. Calling people to Allah is one of the noblest acts one that results in great reward, “And who is better in speech than he who invites people to Allah and does righteous deeds, and says: ‘I am one of the Muslims.’” [41:33]. The Prophet, sallallahu alayhe wa sallam, has said: “Whoever guides (another) to a good deed will get a reward similar to the one who performs it.” (Muslims) and, “By Allah, if Allah were to guide one man through you, it would be better for you than the best type of camels.” (Bukhari and Muslims)
3. It is the duty of all Muslims to remove obstacles from the way of Dawah so that the message of Islam, the last message from Allah to mankind, should reach each & every place in the world.
Let there arise out of you a group of people inviting to all that is good, enjoining al-ma`roof [i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do] and forbidding al-Munkar [polytheism and disbelief and all that Islam has forbidden]. And it is they who are successful.” [al-Qur'aan, Aal `Imraan (3):104]
